Arsene Wenger Makes Excuses for Arsenal and Talks Nonsense: Martin O'Neill


The sight of an indignant Arsene Wenger has almost become as synonymous with Arsenal's defeats as flowing football has with their wins.

Le Prof has had his fair share of feuds over the years, and now it seems as if Martin O'Neill is the next manager in a long line to upset and be upset by the Gunners' boss.


In the aftermath of the 0-0 draw on Wednesday, Arsene Wenger labelled Aston Villa a "physical, long ball team" and continued his long standing dislike of O'Neill's side.

EPL 2009/10: Tough Season Ahead For Martin O'Neill and The Aston Villa


The chorus of boos that resounded around Villa Park after Wigan's 2-0 win yesterday signalled that Martin O'Neill's third year in charge of Aston Villa is one that is going to be extremely tough.


Last season, Villa were the team who seemed to be challenging the monopoly of the top four on the coveted Champions League places. Playing the O'Neill way, a well organised Villa outfit proved to be one of the toughest teams to break down in the league.

Despite Aston Villa finishing sixth, and going for almost two months without a win. This season was a massively successful one for Midland team and their manager, Martin O'Neill.


Launching an assault on fourth place with one of the smallest squads in the EPL is not an easy thing to do, and for almost three quarters of the season, Aston Villa made that position their own.

Arsene Wenger Blows a Fuse After "Villains" Visit the Ref at Halftime

Arsene Wenger was said to be furious following their encounter with Aston Villa last night. The Villains secured a 2-2 draw with almost the last kick of the game deep into injury time.

The Arsenal boss vented his fury in an outburst aimed at Aston Villa's management and the referee after it emerged that Martin O'Neill's assistant John Robertson visited the referee's dressing room at half-time to have a "chat" with the officials.

The battle for fourth place has intensified over recent weeks as Arsenal's poor form has been matched by Aston Villa's good form, the recent match between the two at the Emirates being a perfect example of both sides' seasons to date.
